I'm trying to follow Dr. Oz's advice for eating breakfast -- don't go crazy with creativity, or you'll end up thinking chocolate chip waffles are the *perfect* way to start your day. ) And while it's OK to indulge occasionally, CCW are probably gonna give you a wicked sugar high, which leads to a sugar crash, which leads to sneaking Skittles/greasy potato chips/stale shortbread in the freezer. Trust me on this.)
Dr. O's advice makes a lot of sense: have a few different things in rotation, and stick to it. Maybe it's oatmeal with raisins , yogurt with blueberries, or your favorite nut butter spread on your favorite bread (or doughy alternative). Have a few basic meals you can whip in a flash. And if you can riff off what your kids are eating, even better. If I make steel cut oatmeal for her, I'll make an extra bowl for myself. If it's an omelet day, I'll throw in two more eggs for myself.
This morning's grub was yogurt. I usually make it myself -- stupid simple and so much cheaper than store bought. But I often pick up a few cups of pre-made vanilla or coconut at the store for myself as a treat after a workout, or to add to smoothies.
It was on one of these grocery trips I happened upon Dannon Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurt. It has no added sugar or artificial flavors, and it packs a wallop of protein -- 15g per 5.3 oz! I added chopped strawberries for a little added sweetness. Super delish.
Here's to staving off the waffles for one more day...
Love and FIF,
