After I had a baby in late 2012, my gym membership waned. Sure, I took my 2-month old to the gym's child care center a few times, but I quickly tired of trying to fit in workouts between her naps. Also, I was in full-on nesting mode, so exercising at home was a great option.
And now, with my toddler teetering on her 3rd year, exercising at home is still my preferred way to sweat it out.
I've always been a fan of workout videos, but a handful of online workout gurus really helped me in those first few months of babyhood. Best of all, they're all free:
Jessica Smith TV -- scores of various workouts to do in even the tiniest of spaces, with little to no equipment. My favorite vids? Barre Workouts, 1 Mile Power Walk, and the 20-Minute Yoga For Weight Loss.
FitnessBlender -- scores of quick (but effective) workouts for whatever you wanna work on -- legs, arms, butt, abs, or the whole bod. My faves include 5-Minute Butt and Thigh Workout, Crunchless Ab Workout, and Low Impact Cardio Workout for Beginners. The husband and wife team behind this site also offer tips on healthy eating.
Kathryn Morgan -- this former New York City Ballet dancer has free ballet and ballet-inspired workouts for both dancers and those who don't know a pirouette from a pas de deux.
Whether you have 50 minutes (I'm jealous!) or 5, there are tons of free workouts that will get your heart pumping.
Check 'em out and let me know what you think!
